The road back in September 2020 (which felt like thousands of years), the CD Projekt Red confirmed it was working on the next generation update for “The Witcher 3” on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S we did not hear more about the next version of the game until March 2021, when the Red Projekt CD developer confirmed the studio targeting the release for the second half of 2021. Unfortunately, the window would eventually not come out, as a CD Projekt Red finally delayed “The Witcher 3” For PS5 and Xbox Series X | S up to around Q2 2022.
Well, we were officially 13 days to the quarter and the latest updates on the next gen version were not good. CD Projekt Red has decided to delay the PS5 version and Xbox Series X | S “The Witcher 3” again. What’s worse is this time, we don’t have a new release window for the game. In other words, it has been postponed without time limit, and while it might sound terrible on the surface, it might not be a bad thing in the long run.
Development moves back to CD Projekt Red
In the announcement published to the official Twitter account “Witcher”, the Projekt Red CD announced a temporary delay also revealed that the development of the next generation version moved back home.
“We have decided to hold our in-house development team to do the remaining work on the next generation version of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” The Tweet Reads. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work that must be done and thus must delay the release of Q2 until further notice. We will update you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.”
Meanwhile certainly not the most enjoyable tweet – and indeed, unlimited delays like this one show there is a lot of work to do – it raises some expectations for finished products, whenever you might arrive. It sounds like CD Projekt Red has outsourced the development of the next version of the genes to third party studios and is not happy with the progress made studio. Taking things into his own hands can mean a better experience for players when the next generation port is complete, of course, it’s just pure speculation on our side.
However, we will notify you when the Red Projekt CD shares more about the situation “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, but we might wait while the studio determines what the front lane looks like.
